Annual Warrior Golf Tournament to be Held June 9th
4-3-07The
Riverdale High School football team will host their 3rd Annual Warrior Golf
Classic at Indian Hills Golf Club on Saturday June 9, 2007.
The tournament is limited to 64 teams and ladies are encouraged to
participate. All participants will receive green fees, cart, range balls and Tee
gift at registration. Lunch and free beverages will be served in between
the morning and afternoon sessions.
3-8-07The
Annual Riverdale Football banquet date has been set for Saturday, March
31, 2007. This years banquet will be held at Patterson Park Community Center on
Mercury Boulevard. The banquet will begin at 6:00 in the conference center.
Tickets are on sale now in the weight room through Coach White. Tickets are $20
per person, which includes dinner and the awards ceremony. For those that
just want to attend the awards portion of the banquet, the cost is $10 per
person and you will be allowed to enter after dinner has been served. Come join
the celebration of the Warriors 2006 season.

Thomas Finalist for the Nick Coutras Award
12-7-06Riverdale
senior quarterback Scott Thomas was honored as a finalist for the Nick Coutras
Award. Named for the late Overton football coaching legend, the award is
presented to a Midstate senior football standout who also excels in academics,
character and community service. Joey Beach was
named the recipient of the third annual Nick Coutras Award before a dinner crowd
of just under 400 on Wednesday at the Titans Stadium Club. Thomas will receive
a one time $1,000 dollar scholarship for being a finalist.

Finds 10th Game
12-5-06The
Warriors will travel to Antioch High School for a week 1 match-up with the
Bears. Antioch finished 7-5 in 2006 and lost to Ravenwood in the second
round of the TSSAA play-offs. Riverdale is 1-3 all time against the Bears,
and lost the last game 8-14 in 1990. The Warriors only win over Antioch
was the 49-7 game in 1987.

Riverdale Warriors will have 9 players represent them on the 2006 Region 4-5A
All Region Team. Senior QB Scott Thomas was selected the regions Most
Valuable Player and Coach Ron Aydelott was named Region Coach of the Year.
Seniors Eugene Goree, Monty Newsom, Ben Atakpu, Chad Hunter along with
Juniors Jeremy McClain, Ladarrius Verge, David Spurlock, and Travis Lilienthal
were all voted to the All Region team. The region will honor these fine athletes
this week at the annual Region 4-5A banquet.
11-20-06The
2007-2008 region 4-5A schedule has been set. Each team in the region will
play a region game in weeks 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Region coaches have
re-drawn the schedule and have agreed that the Rutherford County schools will
move their week 6 games in 2007 and their week 7 games in 2008 to week
zero to avoid fall break. Riverdale will open the 2007and 2008 season with cross-town
rival Oakland in the annual "Battle of the 'Boro" with the 2007 game
being played at Tomahawk Stadium. The Warriors non-region schedule will
still include Lincoln County in week 3 and Dickson County in week 5.
Riverdale is still in the process of securing a tenth game for week 1.
11-18-06For
the first time in school history, in the 18th meeting between the two Rutherford
County schools, Smyrna defeated Riverdale 9-7 in a TSSAA Class 5A State Football
Playoffs quarterfinal game at Tomahawk Stadium. The Warriors end the
season with an 11-2 record and Region 4-5A Champions. The Warriors say
goodbye to 21 Seniors that have worked hard and showed the dedication to help
keep the Riverdale football program one of the best in the state. Thanks
seniors and good luck.

vs Smyrna Game Preview - Quarter Finals of the TSSAA Play-Offs

Riverdale will host the Smyrna
Bulldogs in a rematch from week 8 when the Warriors beat the Bulldogs
49-0. Smyrna is on a 4 game winning streak and fresh off of a 24-0 win
over rival LaVergne in the second round of the play-offs. Riverdale holds
a 17-0 lead in the series that dates back to 1976. This is the third year
in a row that the Warriors and Bulldogs have faced in the play-offs. The
Warriors won 35-0 in 2004 and 35-14 in 2005, both games were in the second
round of the play-offs.
