Jennings | Ravenwood, Sr. Position: QB Ht: 6-2 Wt: 180 Why chosen: The Mr. Football finalist paced the Raptors to an improbable Class 5A state title in the programs third year of varsity football, defeating Oak Ridge 14-7 in the final. He completed 172-of-302 passes for 2,203 yards, rushed for 701 yards and accounted for 33 TDs. My favorite NFL player is: Shaun Alexander. When football is done, my career lies in: Music production. Preston Brown | Antioch, Sr. Position: RB Ht: 5-10 Wt: 192 Why chosen: Despite missing two games and the better part of another with a lower back bruise, Brown still racked up 1,350 yards at 7.8 yards a carry to go along with 12 TDs. The Oklahoma State commitment led Antioch to the Class 5A playoffs. My favorite NFL player is: Barry Sanders. When football is done, my career lies in: Business, real estate or high school coaching. Ricky Ladd | White House, Sr. Position: RB Ht: 5-9 Wt: 160 Why chosen: Ladd took home Class 3A Mr. Football honors and led a young White House team to the state quarterfinals. He rushed for 1,772 yards and 23 TDs to go along with 72 tackles and three picks. In his career, piled up 5,654 all-purpose yards. My favorite NFL player is: LaDainian Tomlinson. Gaston Miller | Riverdale, Sr. Position: RB Ht: 5-6 Wt: 155 Why chosen: Miller won Class 5A Mr. Football honors and was the sparkplug for Riverdales 28game win streak that ended in the semifinals. The Vanderbilt commitment carried the football 251 times for 1,956 yards (7.8 yards per carry) and 36 TDs. My favorite NFL player is: Dante Hall. Mike Jones | Hunters Lane, Sr. Position: WR Ht: 6-2 Wt: 180 Why chosen: Jones led the Midstate in receiving with 879 yards on 46 catches and had nine TDs. The Alabama-Birmingham commitment showed good speed and excellent hands. My favorite NFL player is: Deion Sanders. When football is done, my career lies in: Becoming a pro athlete. Golden Tate | Pope John Paul II, Jr. Position: WR Ht: 5-11 Wt: 185 Why chosen: Tate piled up big yards as a game-breaker at receiver, running back, kick returner and defensive back. He had 38 catches for 812 yards and 11 TDs to go with 1,041 rushing yards and 14 TDs. My favorite NFL player is: LaDainian Tomlinson, but soon it will be Reggie Bush. Mike Berry | Brentwood Academy, Sr. Position: OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 300 Why chosen: Berry was a tough man to move at offensive tackle. The Eagles backs liked to run behind Berry, who proved his mettle as a pass blocker as the year progressed. He is being recruited by Auburn, South Carolina, Louisville and Vanderbilt. Mark Fisher | Goodpasture, Jr. Position: OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 275 Why chosen: Fisher is a rising star at the guard position. He paved the way for the Cougars to have two 1,000-yard rushers and another back over 600 yards and was pivotal in his teams march to the Class 2A title game. At defensive end he had 80-plus tackles and seven sacks. My favorite NFL player is: Leonard Little. When football is done, my career lies in: Not sure. Santa Claus needs to bring me: Xbox 360.
Rodney Irvin | Hillsboro, Jr. Position: OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 260 Why chosen: Irvin could be a Division I-A prospect on both sides of the ball, though hes partial to playing center. He was named Metros Most Outstanding Lineman of the Year and was just as big a force at defensive end. My favorite NFL player is: Jeff Saturday. When football is done, my career lies in: Police work. Santa Claus needs to bring me: A state championship.
Matt Jones | Ravenwood, Sr. Position: OL Ht: 6-0 Wt: 277 Why chosen: Jones graded out at 86 percent blocking and was the leader of a line that rolled up 248 rushing yards on Oak Ridge in the Class 5A title game. Jones only gave up one sack at left guard. My favorite NFL player is: LaDainian Tomlinson. When football is done, my career lies in: Hopefully the next level of football. Adam Smotherman | Smyrna, Sr. Position: OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 260 Why chosen: Smothermans size and talent were evident early on. He committed to Vanderbilt as a junior and enjoyed a solid senior year, grading out at 88 percent blocking at offensive tackle. My favorite NFL player is: Tony Gonzalez. When football is done, my career lies in: Teaching and coaching in high school. Santa Claus needs to bring me: A trip to state for track and field throwing the discus.
Wilson Cates | Livingston Academy, Sr. Position: ATH Ht: 5-11 Wt: 185 Why chosen: Cates was the catalyst for No. 4 seed Livingston Academys unlikely run to a Class 3A title. The dynamic quarterback/safety ran for 1,467 yards and 17 TDs, passed for 911 yards and nine TDs. My favorite NFL player is: Randall Cunningham.
