Best Year: 1995 Class 4A Semi-finals Best Year: 1994, 1997, 2001 Class 5A State Champions
Cornerstones: TB/DB Marsalous Johnson (5-11, 170, Sr.); QB/FS Charles Orona (5-11, 185, Sr.); WR/LB Michael Hinson (6-0, 180, Sr.); WR/DB Michael Shadowens (5-10, 155, Sr.); LT/DT Adam Smotherman (6-3, 263, Jr.); RT/DE Colby Joiner (6-4, 245, Sr.); WR/DB Will Forkum (5-11, 160, Sr.); FB/LB Blake Winters (5-10, 185, Sr.).
Building Blocks: WR/DB Demarcus Martin (5-10, 170, Jr.); WR/DB Ferdinand Alexander (6-4, 165, Sr.); TE/LB Stephen Robertson (5-11, 200, Sr.).
Outlook:The offense shifts from the arm of David Wolke to the legs of Johnson, a Tennessee commitment. Johnson shares the backfield with Orona, who transitions from WR to QB. Smotherman, who enjoyed great showings at summer camps, will impress on the line.
Cornerstones: QB/DB Dave Thomas (5-11, 180, Sr.); TE/DE Chris Perkins (6-4, 246, Sr.); WR/LB Rahmel Oliver (6-3, 194, Sr.); TB/DB Gaston Miller (5-7, 154, Sr.); OT Phillip Thomas (6-0, 320, Sr.); RB/LB Derente Frazier (5-8, 160, Sr.); DT Sean Kimbrough (6-0, 202, Sr.); DT Jermaine Alsup (5-11, 227, Sr.).
Building Blocks: TE/DE Chris Keil (6-2, 208, Sr.); WR/DB Keaton Anderson (5-7, 146, Sr.); FB/LB Tamar Butler (6-0, 185, Jr.); DB Terrence Savannah (6-0, 163, Sr.).
Outlook: The Warriors enter this season as heavy favorites to win a fourth state title. Anything less would be disappointing to a senior-laden squad that came within a field goal Germantown in last year’s 5A final. The offense is loaded, and this defense could be one of the best in the nation.
